REGION 827 MINUTES –

Old Business:
1. Previous minutes were reviewed.
2. Vinnie checked with sectionals and everything has been corrected for us to attend.
3. Vinnie and Chuck met with Sharon Morrison of RCSD to discuss issues regarding park guidelines. Chuck explained the philosophy of AYSO, our guidelines regarding members/volunteers, etc. Vinnie obtained a copy of the pre-draft proposal and submitted it to Nationals.
New Business:
1. Regional Treasurer.
a. Checkbook balance: $12,869.20
b. EAYSO show $0 balance for our region.
c. Vicki brought up the matter of providing information regarding Standard Regional Guidelines. Board approved putting this information on the website and also at next year’s sign ups to have a flyer providing information on our website and that the Standard Regional Guidelines can be found there.
d. New goal post will cost $1200 to place with 10% discount. Chuck will check with Epic to see if we can get it cheaper.
e. Vicki requested guidelines on paying for meals when a board member is at a meeting and meals are not provided. Board approved paying for meals when a meal is not provided at meetings.
f. Vicki stated that 80+ children were signed up at the March 8, 2008, registration.
g. Vicki stated there were several sealed boxes in the shed of unknown content. Lyn will check on this.
2. Regional Commissioner.
a. Vinnie welcomed Jay Vincelette and Julie Olmos to the meeting. Jay was placed in nomination to be regional co-coach administrator and Julie was placed in nomination to be team parent coordinator. Both were approved by the board.
b. Kid Zone form was discussed. Board approved that only one signature was required unless both parents are present at sign up and then both should sign. It will be reiterated to the parents that this form applies to all family spectators (in conjunction with green card; see under coach instructor section).
c. Vinnie discussed NAGM and took names of those who would like to attend. This will depend on the budget.
d. Vinnie will contact the school board and requested approval to pass out Challenger Soccer camp applications to the schools.
3. Assistant Regional Commissioner. Uniforms choices were selected as follows:
a. U12-U16: France
b. U10: Germany
c. U8: Belize
d. U5-U6: Holland
4. CVPA: No report.
5. Regional Co-Coach Administrator.
a. John and Jay will check on equipment needed for next season.
b. John requested two Saturdays in June at Hummel Hall for coach information class (U5-U8 three hours/U10-U14 five hours).
c. John requested sectionals equipment, etc., be ordered early this year.
d. Region needs to purchase new manuals this season.
c. John, Jay, and Roger (Safety Director) need to survey field prior to start of season.
6. Regional Coach Instructor.
a. Chuck stated he wants to have coach clinic, referee clinic, and parent class prior to the start of the season.
b. Would like to have a volunteer day/BBQ for marking of the fields.
c. All fields will be marked with coaches box and spectator areas this year.
d. Chuck recommended use of Green card (re: FIFA Laws of the Game, Law V-d: Referees can issue “green cards” to parents and spectators for unacceptable behavior or actions. If a person is “carded,” he or she must immediately change his or her behavior or leave the soccer facilities in order for the game to continue). This was approved by the board.
e. Chuck is working on photo IDs (for board members) for this season.
f. Chuck will be holding management training course. An invitation will be extended to Edwards AFB, Cal City, etc. to attend. There will be a charge for out of town attendees to offset cost of materials/meals.
g. Website will be turned over to AYSO and Chuck will continue to manage it (Fee: $15.00 per month paid out of AYSO budget).
h. Chuck will provide board members with polo shirt/logo for sectionals.
7. Regional Referee Administrator.
a. Luis needs to take two in order to complete his referee training course to be a certified referee instructor. Vinnie will check with Charlie on scheduling this.
b. Once Luis is certified, he will get with John and Chuck to set up referee training classes.
c. Luis requested the purchase of two sets of new referee shirts (green) and several shirts sized 2X. Lyn will check what we already have and purchase items needed (watches, whistles, etc.).
d. Luis will check when Lancaster and Quartz Hill have referee training courses for our future referees to take.
8. Regional Safety Director. Needs to survey field with co-coach administrators.
9. Regional Field Monitor. Maxine will check on radios in the shed and charge for next season.
